But... What do you DO?

Come on in!

Hello fellow crafters, near and far!

While visiting family recently, my husband found himself at a loss to explain this new endeavor called Catherine's Craft Room. He knows we have used supplies, classes, items we make, and space for people to come in and work. Aside from a disjointed list, though, it's difficult to say what we do and why we do it. Can't say I blame him; We do so much!

With that being said, we would like to take some time to tell you just what Catherine's Craft Room is all about. Part craft store, part maker space, part preservation effort, the pillars of Catherine's are strongly rooted in giving back to the community.

First of all, we are all about the location. Our community boasts a nationally and internationally recognized Museum (It's so cool-- Check it out!). I'll leave the history to the experts, but know that Catherine's is located in the general store of this historic village. In fact, the general store was first operated by Christian Stauffer Overholt, and his wife was Catherine. We are recognizing Catherine's role in this place by making her our namesake, and we are honoring the long history of the village by committing to various restoration and maintenance projects that will keep the building in good standing for years to come.

Secondly, we are all about crafting. Alexandria and I are life-long crafters, and we enjoy making things. We've gotten pretty good at what we do over the years, and what we do is plenty! (IYKYK) We are constantly making and displaying new things, and are eager to work on custom orders. Our style varies widely. From traditional to modern, for home, holiday, or special event, whether functional or just for fun, we'll make it. That's all. That's it. We like crafting.

Finally, Catherine's is all about community. We want to give back to our community in many ways through crafting. We sell gently used craft supplies and materials (high variety, low cost, environmentally friendly). We have several sewing machines, a vinyl cutter, a heat press, an overlock machine and many hooks and needles available for use by the hour (economical for those on a budget or with limited space). We are happy to schedule lessons to share these skills with anyone, at any skill level, and we have occasional classes offered throughout the year to inspire everyone to try something new! These skills and techniques are worth sharing, worth learning.

Two red couches sit opposite from one another with a coffee table between them, and an orange chair angled in the foreground. An end table is to the right of the orange chair, and just past the table is the front of a red recliner.

We hope that you have a better understanding of what we are doing in Catherine's Craft Room. If not, come spend some time with us to learn more! All are welcome in Catherine's.
